The Dream by Émile Zola, 1888.Émile Zola (1840 - 1902) was a Frenchnovelist, playwright, journalist, the best-known practitioner of theliterary school of naturalism, and an important contributor to thedevelopment of theatrical naturalism. He was a major figure in thepolitical liberalization of France and in the exoneration of thefalsely accused and convicted army officer Alfred Dreyfus, which isencapsulated in the renowned newspaper headline J'accuse. Zola wasnominated for the first and second Nobel Prize in Literature in 1901and 1902.
